Upper eyelid procedure (BLEFAROPLASTY)
Upper eyelid procedure is done to fix the sagginess or the bags on the upper eyelid that form due to age or genetics. The bags and sagginess do not only give the person an old person’s look but it also affects their ability to see. This is why eyelid surgery is considered not only an esthetic rocedure but also a functional one. Usually the procedure is done under local anethesia and it lasts around 1 hour. After the operation the patient is kept under observation or a while and then they can go home.

Does a blepharoplasty leave a scar?
The incision for this procedure is in the eye crease which makes the scar a hidden scar. The scar appears red for the first 3-6 months, but fades over time and becomes less noticeable.
Is there an age limit for an upper eyelid procedure?
Because of genetic reasons people at a young age can have sagginess in their eyelids as well which is why there is no age limit to an upper eyelid surgery.
Do I need to stay at the hospital after the procedure?
Upper eyelid surgery is done with local anethesia which doesn’t require any stay at the hospital.
What should you pay attention to after an upper eyelid operation?
- Swelling and bruising may occur in the eyes for the first 2-3 days after the procedure. Starting from the 3rd day, edema and bruises start decreasing.
- In order to avoid the formation of spots on the skin of the eyelids, you should protect it from the sun and sunscreen should be applied on the incision lines. Sunbathing should be avoided for one month.
- There will be a thin band on the incision line after the surgery. You should not get water on your eyes until the bands are removed on your check up day.
- You can go back to your normal life 5-7 days after the operation.
- All the stitches are esthetic and melt away which is why we won’t be removing any of them after the operation.
- You should use Thiocilline cream on the incission line for the first 10 days post operation and use Siliscar cream afterwards for two months to reduce the appearance of the scar.
Lower eyelid procedure
Lower eyelid procedure is done to fix the sagginess or the bags on the lower eyelid that form due to age or genetics. The incision is done as a line under the eyelashes, the skin is pulled up and the excess fat bags are removed. Usually the procedure is done under general anethesia and it lasts around 1 hour. After the operation the patient is kept under observation or a while and then they can go home.
