Porcelain crowns are a type of crowns applied for the removal of more severe caries, tooth fractures and discoloration of the teeth. The aim of using porcelain crowns is to give teeth that are compatible with the person’s face and closest to their natural teeth. Porcelain teeth will enable the patient to fulfill their chewing and speaking functions in the most comfortable way. While making porcelain crowns, first of all, the tooth surface is cleaned and, if necessary, teeth shavings are performed. Measurements are taken for a temporary crown that will be used while awaiting the final tooth. This temporary coating protects your tooth’s sensitivity and provides comfort until the permanent crown is put. After the measurements are taken, they are sent to the lab and the crowns get custom made for you. These permanent porcelain crowns are later put on through dental bonding.
